AdultFriendFinder and FOSTA/SESTA

I want to start this by saying I support sex workers. I believe the decriminalization of the sex work industry will only help society and sex workers, in general. This is an opinion formed out of being a sex worker for a short time, speaking with others, reading the literature, and realizing the work involved. Allowing sex workers to operate without fear of legal reprisal will lead to less sex trafficking because it will remove some of the shame. Sex workers are more likely to report when they’re being abused or trafficked in some way, leading to arrests of the actual criminals. However, I’m not here to convince you of my opinion on sex work.

Let’s start with a fact, in the United States, most people who are trafficked in the sex industry are not kidnapped and violently forced into sex work. This is not some salacious story about how “they” (meaning whichever country is being othered this week) have gangs of people who come to the United States and kidnap our women. “Most human traffickers use psychological means such as tricking, defrauding, manipulating or threatening victims into providing commercial sex or exploitative labor.”

Often they are men/women who are in “relationships” with these people who are being trafficked. Take Andrew Tate, he is an “influencer” who has become notorious in the “manosphere”. He has been accused of convincing women that he’s in a relationship with them, bringing them to Romania, and putting them to work as cam girls.

And, please, by no means believe this only happens to women.  “LGBTQ boys and young men are seen as particularly vulnerable to trafficking.”

Now, enter FOSTA/SESTA

“The Section 230 safe harbor was established in 1996, making the providers of “interactive computer services” immune from liability under civil laws for the actions of their users if they publish objectionable content (such as defamatory and obscene content). Section 230 has been considered a key piece of Internet legislation, as operators of online services that handle user-generated content are not liable for civil wrongs committed by their users, if the service was not directly involved in the offending content. These provisions do not apply to criminal or intellectual property law. The Stop Advertising Victims of Exploitation (SAVE) Act made it illegal to advertise sex trafficking, knowingly benefit financially from participation in a venture that advertises sex trafficking, and to engage in activities related to sex trafficking besides advertising, knowingly or in reckless disregard of the fact that sex trafficking is involved.”

Where does AdultFriendFinder fit into this?

Ask yourself, why did Craigslist personals shut down?

I can tell you. FOSTA-SESTA.

“The company (Craigslist) says it made the change because Congress has passed the Fight Online Sex Trafficking Act, meant to crack down on sex trafficking of children. It was approved by a landslide in the Senate earlier this week, as NPR’s Alina Selyukh has reported, but has been met with criticism by free speech advocates and sex workers. As Craigslist wrote, the law seeks “to subject websites to criminal and civil liability when third parties (users) misuse online personals unlawfully.”

How else is this concerning?

FriendFinderNetworks, owner of Adultfriendfinder, also own Cams.com which is a camming site. I suspect, though I have no proof, that Adultfriendfinder streams Cams.com models through their cam feature. I do know, for sure, that people are making money (points which function as currency), and the leader at Adultfriendfinder (Jonathan Buckheit) can’t possibly know if any of these people making money on their website are being trafficked. Unless he’s been told…

One of my friends took a screenshot of a stream where you have to buzz a cam model with 35 points to watch the stream.

I believe the cam models are using some stream management service such as Streamlabs, and configured it to only show the model after the user has paid. I have verified through some of my old camming friends that this is possible. This is not done through Adultfriendfinder per se, although FriendFinderNetwork is paying these people through the points system and allowing it to happen.

(I was also told Cams.com was one of the better cam sites to make money. However, that’s not the point.)

How does this affect the blogs?

It affects the blogs because the site is now allowing cam models to advertise their services on the blogs. If a person is being trafficked on their site, Adultfriendfinder is going to have a lot to answer for, and not just civilly.

The same blogs where they take down any criticism regarding their choices in allowing these cam models to advertise. There’s no longer a critical thought to be uttered about AdultFriendFinder on Adultfriendfinder blogs, even when they’re being informed of possible illegal activities like sex trafficking.

I know at least one user who has tried to warn them of possible trafficking, but they were told to stop talking about it.

In my opinion, Buckheit will ruin the company.

Makes you wonder if Jon is taking the stance of “if I can’t have this, you can’t, either” and is willing to tear the site down if he can’t keep his CEO job. All the more since he’s being sued for breach of contract and lost the motion to dismiss.

      That’s something I’m wondering myself.

My thoughts exactly are that Jon is trying to devalue the company so Andrew loses, even if he wins the case.. I have mostly stopped posting, and just leave a few comments on other bloggers, but really miss all of you there. Ciao for now, Bloom…

Yes, they are awesome! one Papaya ripened, the others are still very green, two really pretty passion fruit, so sweet and delicious! cut them up and put in the freezer so I can enjoy them longer, pop into the blender with some bananas and greek yogurt, so good.

Now you’re living my life. I still have bananas from my plant in the freezer and I’m a morning smoothie girl myself. Passion fruit, papaya, and banana make an awesome tropical smoothie. 🙂

Young Lady, I have no issues with how some one makes their money. Sex is one of the oldest trades and will never cease! That being said. I tried to get the site’s attention on this orcarestraded group of Columbian CAM girls, and yes I got a personal letter off site to my personal email to “Shut up” It was one step more tactful than that, but being from the south we do have the ability to understand what some one says even in writin’ . Since I have made it a measure of my time to keep up with several of these young girls, some cant be of age, the site gives them Gold, The site has given the “Real ID” badges not just confirms which is absolutely nothing , but a badge that says they have given the site real ID, I don’t no more believe this than some of the other things the site is pulling.. I get into that in a bit..

Back to the subject at hand. I am not one to have any need to watch a young Girl play with herself in front of a camera, supposedly doing it by herself and willingly. To look so unhappy and disappointed as being told something and it really not true. Oh, one once in a while will get a happy John and act a bit different as long as he is on seen. They look confused, they look unhappy. But they are all in a beautiful set, with perfect lighting, as in NO SHADOWS, they have help as some even answer their IM on screen with both of their hands in use doing something else..LOL. This is obvious on almost any of them. Their post on the main feed are supposed to be of a regular content , No solicitation allowed , but again being from the south, the writin’ is plain.. I am sure even a yankee( no disrespect to any one, God still loves ya!) could decipher it!!The site is without any doubt in my mind working these girls to their benefit, The benefit of Friend Finder. Again just what I see from what I observe and watch as this got started.. Another note, the post by these girls do not stand out, the number they get are actually on the very low end. A good HNW will best 6 of them any day. I have satisfied my mind that they are being exploited by their local coordinator and then this is being exploited by AFF. but they didn’t want to hear it. A copy on my letter can be found on JN’s Jottings on Bloggerspot.. Miss Deebi can put in a link, I don’t have it in front of me..

More AFF New community deception. within Club7 there are a number of Level 1 members.

Several times I tried to get this resolved, after the third time the bug report was closed andI received one of those nice “canned” responses that all of this issue has been resolved and if I had further info let them know, within 5 min of receiving the alert of the abovementioned Canned message I responded tha Yes, I did have more information that there were still 11 more level 1 members, To this date no reply and there are still those 11 members of Level 1 on the roster..

Another abnormality, seen while watching these Level 1 members was the instant creation of one Level 8. one post , no activity, nothing but in 10 days of joining he is a level 8 with 50,010 kudos, they give him credit for posting a ” Test post” As I look at this place it is so full of things like this it is unreal .

For the last week I have had to use a work around to access my Group chat page.. It works good that way but a bit of an inconvenience, am I going to tell them, Hell no!!! I am doing OK.. they are the one with the problem. They have been told about his “No Connection and the big X” many times,Do they fix it? They haven’t yet!!!They have to know of the problems but continue to develop new bells and whistles.. That bell and whistle is not going to sound good at the bottom of a deep ocean when it finally sinks,,

Fokes, I an tired, been another good day for yard work , getting ready for spring a bit early this year.. I am off my soap box, back to good music A nice big Diet Coke and hope a sweet thing awaits on a real chat page.. I will be back I got a lot of stories!!!

Well, my friend, this post was created with you in mind. It will be a series, and I will add the link to her post with your letter, since you’ve given me permission, in the next post about this. This one was already long.

I appreciate the information, me, it just goes to show that they have no care about the user’s experience anymore. It’s just about how much money they can make.

Make no mistake, just because those girls were getting low numbers on AFF doesn’t mean they weren’t making money. Those stream management services I talked about in the article? They allow them to stream on multiple platforms at once.

They’re throwing out some deck chairs, neglecting the engine, and calling it a cruise ship.

      Enjoy your evening, my friend.

That instant level 8 could be a programmer playing around with the settings. I know they create test blogs and groups. They should deactivate the blogs and groups once they’re done testing, tho. There was like 10 test groups at one point. Not sure if they’re still there, tho, since there are tons of new groups being created by newbies who don’t bother to see if there’s another interest group that serves the same purpose.

That’s possible. And, yeah, why bother seeing if something already exists first?
