Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening Everyone!
I hope you’re having a lovely day!
As promised in my last Farm Day, here is the backyard. Where my aunts will be happy to see it’s a tale of loofah.
Let’s start there, shall we?
The humble loofah/luffa is a squash for those who are unaware. You can eat them when they are young and they function almost exactly like Zucchini or Courgette if you’re from across the pond. When they age, though, they start growing fibrous innards and I can guarantee your eating experience won’t be pleasant.
I’m not the biggest squash fan, I mostly grow loofah for sponges. I give lots away. In fact, I just sent some to family and brought some one my trip to Arizona. Without further adieu, the tale of the loofah…
Here’s the biggest loofah in our garden currently, still green, but boy is that going to be a huge sponge.

It’s still unclear, to me, how I’m supposed to get these down. But I’ll figure it out. LMAO

Here’s our strawberry patch. I see some runners, so I’m sure the patch will grow.

Here you’re going to see my red bell pepper has given me a lovely pepper. Still waiting for it to turn red, but boy I can’t wait to eat it.

Check out how big our pineapples are getting! I’m going to have to put them in the ground soon.

Next up, we have Clitoria, and yes that’s it’s real name. Also known as Butterfly Pea. I love the way it’s taken over the structure we’ve given it! No blooms yet, but I don’t expect to see them till next month.

And, here you’re going to see that my Oregano is thriving

So is my Parsley

Let’s not forget the Thai Basil. Thai Basil has a higher heat tolerance than a milder sweet basil which makes it more suitable for cooking. It’s spicier, still mild, but has a more anise seed flavor. Sweet Basil, which I tend to only grow in summer, is better for fresh applications.

Our garlic chives are blooming! Garlic chives are very much like onion chives, they just have a more garlicy flavor. The little bulbs you see before they bloom? You can eat those too, it’s like a pop of mild garlic in your mouth to ward off the vampires this Halloween.😉

Just so you know, I’m still feeding the pollinators in the backyard. Not only do they have the flowering vegetables, I have Pentas growing everywhere too.

Here, we have our baby mango tree. It’s still very young, we won’t get mangos for years. I pull leaves and put them around the base to feed the tree itself.

You’ll see here that my Italian Sweet Peppers are hanging in there.

Is anyone shocked I have tomatoes growing. I know I’m not, but is anyone? LOL

Lastly, have you ever seen a Kale so big? This is Lacinato Kale, aka Dinosaur Kale. It will keep growing. Lacinato Kale is heartier with more tender leaves than the typical Kale you buy in the grocery store.

Thank you for joining me on this tour of our garden.
Happy Friday!
