Community Guidelines

Last updated: September 18, 2026

Some version of my blog has been around a while, and many of you have been reading and commenting for years. To keep this space welcoming, readable, and safe, here are the guidelines for participating in discussions.

These aren’t meant to be complicated just a clear outline of how we treat each other here.

1. Be Respectful

You don’t have to agree with me or with other commenters. Disagreement is fine; hostility isn’t.

If you can’t make your point without insulting someone else in this community, don’t post it.

Insulting public figures is fine, go for it. (Section 3 still applies)

2. Stay on Topic

Comments should relate to the post or the ongoing discussion. Tangents happen; that’s part of blogging, but deliberate derailing or soapboxing isn’t welcome.

3. No Hate Speech or Discrimination

This includes:

  • Racism
  • Sexism
  • Homophobia
  • Transphobia
  • Xenophobia
  • Ableism
  • Any form of bigotry

Zero tolerance. No exceptions. Period. End. Stop.

4. No Trolling or Bad‑Faith Engagement

This blog uses tools to block VPNs, proxies, TOR, and other high‑risk IPs. If you’re trying to evade moderation or return under rotating identities, you will be blocked.

Bad‑faith behavior includes:

  • Provoking arguments
  • Repeatedly posting under different identities
  • Ignoring moderator instructions
  • Attempting to bypass security measures

This space is for genuine conversation, not games.

5. No Spam or Self‑Promotion

Links are fine when relevant. Spam, SEO drops, or self‑promotion disguised as “helpful resources” will be removed.

If you want to share something of yours, ask first.

6. Respect Privacy

Do not post:

  • Personal information about yourself you may regret later
  • Personal information about others
  • Private messages without consent

This is a public space. Treat it accordingly.

7. Comment Moderation

Comments may be:

  • Held for moderation
  • Approved
  • Declined
  • Edited for clarity, safety, or because you were an ass and changing your comment made me giggle. (rare)
  • Deleted if they violate guidelines

Moderation decisions are final. This is not debate club; it’s my blog.

If you want to be in the hellscape of unmoderated commenting, go to Twitter.

8. Repeat Violations

If you repeatedly break these guidelines:

  • Your comments may be permanently blocked
  • Your IP may be restricted
  • Your access may be limited

This applies whether you’re using a residential/mobile connection or attempting to bypass restrictions with VPNs or proxies.

9. Long‑Time Readers

Many of you have known me for years. You know the tone, the humor, and the culture. You’re welcome to keep being yourselves just follow the guidelines above.

10. If You Have Questions

If you’re unsure whether something is okay to post, ask. If you think a comment violates guidelines, let me know.

This community works because most of you are thoughtful, funny, and engaged. These guidelines simply help keep it that way.
