It’s that time of the week again, when Debbi bores you with how there are no changes. Life on Wegovy has become such a part of my routine, that I don’t even need the alarms on my phone to remind me to eat anymore.
For any new readers, I’m on a low calorie, low fat, high protein, mostly whole food diet while taking Wegovy. I say mostly whole food because I do indulge in a protein shake once a day to raise my protein intake. I estimate (because I refuse to count calories) that I am taking in about twelve hundred calories a day.
I’m on the lowest dose, have no intention of raising it, and felt the effects of it from the moment I took it. I lost all cravings I once had for unhealthy food; can’t eat nearly as much as I used to; and gave up all things containing white flour and white rice. I raised not only my whole grain intake, but also my fruit and vegetable intake while I was at it.
I do strength training, at a gym, four days a week for forty five minutes a day. I can’t do cardio due to health issues that I’m currently working on getting taken care of, but you know the healthcare system in the States. Snail pace.
Since I apparently didn’t feel like that was enough change in my life, I also started a new job two months ago. I’m a fun little nugget, aren’t I? LOL.
Oh, I have a new thing. One of my friends told me about hemp hearts. Hemp hearts have replaced chia seeds in my rotation. I like them so much more than the chia. I put them on everything nowadays. Soup. salad, smoothies, yogurt. They’re like little pops of texture, and extra protein to boot.
I really want to tell you about my neighbor’s chickens and bees, how excited I am. But, I’ll save it for Farm Day. I’m so psyched though, you just don’t know!!!! (Shhh….I’m slowly getting Nick used to the idea of having chickens. Nobody say anything to him, I’m easing him in. 😂😂)
Speaking of Nick, he’s doing well on Ozempic. He’s not losing a lot of weight, hasn’t lost his cravings, but he’s still going strong on steering clear of the sugar soda. He’s been on sparkling water since starting.
I think he goes up to a higher dose soon, I’ll be curious to see how it affects him. So far, he says hasn’t noticed any side effects on the lowest dose. (I haven’t either and I’ve been on it for seventeen weeks)
For those who may be curious, my doctor did tell me that her diabetic patients seem to have a different reaction to semaglutide than her non diabetic patients. (Semaglutide is the active ingredient in both Wegovy and Ozempic.) So far, what she said has held true. I have very little appetite and no cravings. Nick got excellent and stable blood sugar readings out of it, but still has a huge appetite and cravings.
Happy Wednesday!
