Mulberry Liqueur

What do you do when you have two mulberry trees and they’re coming in by the pound? You make liqueur!

I had some help picking yesterday. So, I made Catlandia’s Own Homemade Mulberry Liqueur.

You start with 3 cups or so of berries (we used Mulberries but any kind will work.) and put them in a sealable jar.

When you freeze berries, it helps break down the cellular structure easier, making for a stronger berry flavor in the liqueur. That’s why the mulberries are frozen.

Then to add to the complexity of the flavor, I added a couple strips of lime zest and a touch of vanilla to each jar.

Top that off with three cups of vodka in each jar.

Then add a half a cup of brandy to each

Seal each jar and give them a shake.

Then into the pantry to liqueurify (All words are made up. 😂) for a few months.

When they’re done, I’ll add simple syrup to each and bottle them.

We give it to local friends as Christmas presents.

I’m not a drinker, so it’s lost on me. 😂

Happy Saturday

PS I’m also trying my hand at mulberry wine this year, keep your eyes open for that post!

My oldest son loves to dabble in wines and flavored liquors. It’s all lost on me too, LOL.
    Hugs!!!

Dad has made different types of homemade wine over the years and I just haven’t been a fan of them. Maybe if they were a little sweeter I would be, I always have to add 7-up to them. Your mulberry booze does look interesting. There are people around here who make flavored moonshine that can be either rather tasty or really icky.Hope your doing better 🙂

This will be my first time with wine. I probably won’t even drink it, other than to check flavor. The liqueur is a hit with my local friends, though.

The mulberry liqueur sounds delish. My sister made raspberry liqueur from raspberries she got from a neighbor’s garden. If I had enough weight allowance, I would’ve brought home a bottle or two, but I chose to bring home shoes instead. LOL

In Japan, many make plum wine in early summer, made with plums (Nanko plum being quite popular to use), shochu (a vodka-like spirit that’s about 35% alcohol), and rock sugar. The jar is stored in a cool and dark place for about 6 months.
