Mulberry Liqueur

What do you do when you have two mulberry trees and they’re coming in by the pound? You make liqueur!

I had some help picking yesterday. So, I made Catlandia’s Own Homemade Mulberry Liqueur.

You start with 3 cups or so of berries (we used Mulberries but any kind will work.) and put them in a sealable jar.

When you freeze berries, it helps break down the cellular structure easier, making for a stronger berry flavor in the liqueur. That’s why the mulberries are frozen.

Then to add to the complexity of the flavor, I added a couple strips of lime zest and a touch of vanilla to each jar.

Top that off with three cups of vodka in each jar.

Then add a half a cup of brandy to each

Seal each jar and give them a shake.

Then into the pantry to liqueurify (All words are made up. 😂) for a few months.

When they’re done, I’ll add simple syrup to each and bottle them.

We give it to local friends as Christmas presents.

I’m not a drinker, so it’s lost on me. 😂

Happy Saturday

PS I’m also trying my hand at mulberry wine this year, keep your eyes open for that post!
