We are gathered here today to tour the gardens.
Back surgery is tomorrow and I realized I had not shown you the gardens in a long time. Last you heard, old man winter came along and took out many of my plants.
There were some left, and I had help planting some other stuff. Though my garden will be small this year, I still have one.
Starting in the front yard, it’s a stellar year for mulberries. The cold may have killed off my passion fruit completely, but it woke a beast in the mulberries. They’re jammed full.

Next, the canna lilies made it, much to my surprise.

As did the Jamaican lilies

And here we have a Blue Daze which is a cousin to the morning glory, but doesn’t vine and has a blue flower. This one is new as of the AT&T Incident .

This next one, also new from the AT&T incident, is called Stokes Aster. Isn’t she purdy?

The next two are also new from the AT&T incident. They’re both called sweet William, aka Dianthus

Next is the Jasmine, when I tell you this side of the yard smells amazing…believe me. She’s an old favorite

Then, of course, there’s the Blackfoot. I love that it’s spreading. Also new since AT&T

These Pentas, we just bought a week ago to replace the ones damaged over the winter

Finally, for the front yard, the bananas are growing back!!!

The pot hole cover decorating took a large hit with AT&T negligence and winter

Alright, lots to see, time to move to the back where you’ll see the remains of the passion fruit. I won’t be growing it again. While I loved the flowers, we don’t eat a lot of passion fruit…and the vines are a chore! (Why yes, yes those are loofah hanging from the top wire. 🤣😂🤣😂 Any suggestions how to get them down?)

Let’s start with what made it through winter. (AT&T spared my back yard of their destructive ways.)
The kale did and it’s turning into a hell of a tree. 😂 I have to prop it up with all kinds of things, I’m worried it will fall over.

Bananas made it, but they’re looking rough. Those ducks and cats are hard on them

The onions made it through winter but of course they did. There’s basil, thyme, and rosemary in there too.

The pineapple is looking rough, her friend died during our cold winter. We’re hoping by putting her in the ground, she’ll bounce back. (Why yes, those are random loofah plants growing around it. 😂)

My dragonfruit took a big hit and I had to cut away most of it.

So I “rescued” another one to put in

I had like six volunteer tomato plants. A volunteer is when a fruit drops the year before, decomposing, and then a new seed comes up in the spring. Here’s the biggest, it’s gotten out of control before I could trellis it and it’s covered my strawberries.

It’s already putting on fruit

We actually have strawberries under all that mess:

Here are more volunteers

These, I grew from from seed myself

Look, I already have a green pepper

Here we have some parsley and oregano

And some lantana that just popped up out of nowhere

Here’s some Thai basil which has a anise like flavor

And finally, to appease my favorite Brit, cucumber (and loofah). They’ve only flowered, no fruit yet.

Thank you for joining me on this tour of our gardens. Happy Farm Day!
Pssst: I’m nervous, but I’ll be fine
